I started my blog, Healthy Dash of Sass, as a creative outlet and form of therapy for myself and to connect with likeminded people but since I am multi passionate it’s really been reborn into a place that you can come as a cozy safe haven.
Life in your 30s is a time for growth, discovery, and embracing who you are. Throughout the ups and downs of this decade, it’s important to make your well-being a priority. Self-care is about more than just fancy bubble baths (although if that’s what you enjoy, go for it!); it’s about addressing your physical health, mental health, and other aspects of your life so you can feel healthy, happy, and confident. Here are 15 self-care tips for women in their 30s.
1. Develop a skincare routine
Skincare not only helps keep your skin clean, it can minimize the signs of aging and protect your skin, too, depending on the products you use. Opt for a gentle cleanser, toner, serum, and moisturizer, and remember to wear sunscreen during the day to block harmful UV rays.
2. Get preventive care
Your physical health can impact so many areas of your life, so staying healthy is important. Preventive care includes medical services like screenings, tests, healthy lifestyle counseling, and more designed to help you prevent health issues.
3. Make sleep a priority
It’s not new advice, but it’s good advice. Aim to get 7 to 9 hours of quality sleep every night to help your body and mind recharge. Creating a calm sleeping environment that promotes rest can help.
4. Exercise regularly
Move your body! Find activities you enjoy and are likely to stick with, whether that’s going for a walk, hitting the gym, practicing yoga, or some other form of exercise. Consider weight training to support strong muscles and bone health, too, especially since people may start losing bone mass in their 30s.
5. Eat a healthy, balanced diet
Help keep your body healthy with nutritious food packed with vitamins and minerals. Plan meals that have a mix of fruit, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains. Look for recipes that are delicious, quick and easy, so healthy eating becomes a convenient option.
6. Stay hydrated
Hydrating helps keep your body functioning at its best, so drink plenty of water throughout the day.
7. Check in on your finances
Review your finances regularly, set budgets, and track your spending habits so you know where your money is going every month. This can reduce stress and empower you to make informed financial decisions.
8. Set (and enforce) boundaries
Boundaries serve as guidelines for how we act and how we interact with others. Setting healthy boundaries can promote self-respect, protect your mental and emotional health, and help maintain healthy relationships. While everyone sets their own boundaries, some examples are: “I take time to myself when I need it,” “I only engage in conversations where people speak to me respectfully,” and “I unfollow social media accounts that make me feel bad about myself.”
9. Create and nurture relationships
Cultivate meaningful relationships with friends, family, and loved ones who bring positivity to your life and support you.
10. Give yourself grace
It’s completely normal to not be perfect! When you make mistakes, forgive yourself, be kind to yourself, and offer yourself the same compassion that you would offer to others.
11. Limit screen time
Mindlessly scrolling is easy, but setting down the electronics gives you time to spend on other activities that nourish your body, mind, and soul.
12. Practice mindfulness meditation
Try to be in the moment. Pay attention to how you’re feeling, but don’t judge those feelings. Practicing mindfulness may help with stress, anxiety, insomnia, and other conditions.
13. Make time for hobbies
Spend time on hobbies and healthy activities that are fun and fulfilling, whether that’s reading, dancing, gardening, or something else. Remember, hobbies don’t have to make you money! They just have to bring you joy.
14. Work on personal development
Your 30s is a great time to think about the person you want to be and the goals you want to achieve. What steps can you take to become the best version of yourself? Consider learning a new skill, networking with other people, listening to a helpful podcast, or finding a mentor.
15. Stop comparing yourself to others
Comparison is the thief of joy, as they say. Your journey doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Celebrate your accomplishments and unique strengths, and remember that you are enough.
