I started my blog, Healthy Dash of Sass, as a creative outlet and form of therapy for myself and to connect with likeminded people but since I am multi passionate it’s really been reborn into a place that you can come as a cozy safe haven.
Whether you’re looking for your morning motivation in a mug or need an afternoon pick-me-up, you can grab coffee at a variety of locations throughout the city. Not sure where to go? Here are five coffee shops to visit in Columbus, Ohio.
1. Maudine’s
If you love a coffee shop with a fun theme, Maudine’s is for you. Named after Maudine Ormsby, a cow that was crowned homecoming queen in 1926 (you can read that story here), Maudine’s features black and white floor tiles laid out in a cow print design, cow cookies, and other fun cow-themed elements. The menu at Maudine’s includes a variety of coffees, teas, dairy alternatives, and housemade syrups, as well as pastries and other baked goods. Maudine’s is located inside the Junto hotel.

2. The Roosevelt Coffeehouse
The Roosevelt Coffeehouse aims to serve great coffee and save lives. Profits from their coffee roaster are used to support organizations working to fight hunger, unclean water, and human trafficking locally and around the world. The Roosevelt Foundation has impacted more than 72,000 people, as of their 2022 report. Located in the Discovery District in Downtown Columbus, The Roosevelt Coffeehouse offers a variety of coffees, including seasonal beverages like the s’mortado and the cinnamon roll cappuccino in the fall.

3. Bottoms Up Coffee
Head to Franklinton and you’ll find Bottoms Up Coffee inside a refurbished 100-year-old building. With a focus on craft coffee, community, and creativity, they serve up a variety of coffees as well as milks, syrups, snacks, and even cocktails. The Rainy Day is perhaps their most eye-catching coffee, served with a giant “cloud” of cotton candy. At Bottoms Up, there are several tables where you can sit and enjoy your beverage and food, as well as a conference room for meetings or events. Bottoms Up Coffee is a City of Columbus certified Minority-Owned Business Enterprise and Woman-Owned Business Enterprise.

4. Parable
Parable is a cafe and bar rolled into one. During the day, stop by for an assortment of coffees, teas, and delicious bakery items. By night, Parable turns into Parable After Dark, serving cocktails, natural wine, beer, and sake. You might even catch some live music. In addition to offering food and drinks, Parable is dedicated to supporting its employees and the community. By contributing to Parable’s community card, you can help make coffee and mutual aid more accessible.

5. Stauf’s Coffee
Stauf’s Coffee has locations throughout Columbus, but be sure to check out their Victorian Village shop for a unique environment. The building is a refurbished church from the 1800s and features colorful stained glass windows and tall ceilings. Enjoy the space while sipping a specialty coffee (they have lots to choose from), tea, or eating from their collection of baked goods. All of Stauf’s coffees are roasted by hand right here in Ohio.
